hi its really very important and urgent to know?
i am getting married in india with my girlfriend she is a canadian citizen and i am a indian citizen, and we will do traditional marriage then register our marriage in marriage registrar office. i am from madhya pradesh and here we have to register our marriage in collectorate office. only problem which is coming is a document which is asked by marriage registerar and which is very strange for me, he said that he need a letter from canada stating my gf marriage status and no objection certificate from canadian goverment. me and my gf are never married before, and i looked online for documents needed for marriage registeration in india and i did not find any document like this. All it says a letter from priest some pictures and two affidavit of bride and grrom and three witness presented during marriage ceremony.
Our marriage will be registered under special marriage act.

I have never heard of such a letter from Canada to register marriage in India. I am sure it is not a legal requirement. Push them back on this letter part. See if an affidavit from your gf, stating her marriage status, will work. Many times an affidavit works.

I registered our marriage in India but never were asked to provide such letter.
