I have a question me and my family lived in USA and had overstayed. Then after 9/11 we moved to Canada under the refugee case since there was danger for us in Pakistan. Our case has been denied and we then applied for PRRA that was also denied as they claimed that we didn't have enough proof. we were then order to leave voluntarily from Canada either go back to us or Pakistan. We went to Pakistan. Now
I have couple of questions.

1) Since they gave us a removal date to leave Canada, does that mean we where deported and if so is there a ban on us.
2) If there is a baned on us what is the duration. 3 years, 5 years or more?
3) Can I come back to Canada if I get married to someone who is a Canadian citizen.

If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.
thanks in advance

1. It depends, if you got a deportation order, lifetime ban requires Ministers Approval to Return to Canada, Exclusion order, 2 year ban, Departure order no ban. If you received a departure order and it became effective, it would turn into deportation order, if you didn't leave by the date required.
2. if you marry, you would have to be sponsored, and the application would be looked at closely.

Are you in a relationship at the moment with a Canadian citizen or are you planning to find one just to fit your needs?

I'm trying to understand his situation. I was not being judgemental. It was a simple question. There's just not really a nice way of asking that question.

Well the question wasnt directed towards you Marlena. Since your so concerned with my thoughts and replies lately, I see nothing wrong with it if he was chosing to marry 2 avoid living in his home country of Pakistan. Especially since there is alot of terrorism and war going on over there right now. I believe this whole immigration process to be stupid. I think we should be able to move where ever we want freely for whatever reason we want. So don't come at me with that 'I can read between the lines' crap and accuse me 2 be judgemental if you dont know 1 thing about me except for reading my replies. Your basing YOUR judgements of me on a few comments that YOU misinterpret or don't concern YOU in the first place. I can't help that you are 2 sensative to read certain things. That is your own personal problem.

it is a real marriage both side have approved and the only thing stopping us is the visa. both has agreed upon the marriage only when when there is a 100% chance for me to come, then we will continue

we don't want to get married and not get to live with each other.

Yes. If she is Canada citizen she would be able to sponsor you to move there. Being married will increase your chance of being approved, as long as you are able to prove the relationship is genuine.

Well actually MUD I am not the first one who see your post is strong and unecessary. Anyways no use to argue on this issue because after all we are here to help each other rather than telling someone " you planning to find one just to fit your needs?" and it happens you the one who wrote it!!!!

@ Marlena - I'm just keepin it real, I can only offer help if I know the facts of the situation. Yes I understand that it is a strong and possibly offensive question 2 ask. If you have a better way of stating the question without beating around the bush please share. I am not here to argue, I'm here to help.

@ Mustafa - Please don't hesitate 2 ask more questions if needed. Good Luck;)
