Marriage of Convenience?

I need some advice. Yes, it was a quick marriage and hindsight is 20/20!

I met my Jamaican husband in March of 2019. We got married the end of April 2019. His work permit was going to expire in June 2019. I have had 2 strokes and my lack of judgment is not top notch due to this. I just wanted someone to love me as I didnt think noone would want me because of my strokes. He told me he loved me and wanted to marry me. I agreed, like I said I just wanted someone to love me.

Well he signed the papers for his PR card March 10, 2020 and had the card March 27, 2020. He did a complete 360 turn since receiving his card. On April 8th he became distant, screaming at me, screaming in my ear and giving me the silent treatment.

He moved out last week and told me that he never said anything about being with me because he didn't receive his PR card yet and knew that I would stop his sponsorship if he said anything about being with me.

I was sincere in marrying him and didn't think anything like this would happen. He played the part easily.

Granted, I married him but my intentions were good and I really thought he wanted to be with me and loved me.

Is there anything I can do since I was taken advantage of?

Report him to IRCC for fraud submitting as much evidence as you can, including a detailed story - especially focusing on his immediate behaviour changes since getting his PR card.

Given that he moved out so quickly after getting the card, I think there's a decent chance IRCC will investigate this case. If IRCC investigates the case and determines there is enough evidence to prove marriage fraud, they will revoke his PR status. Note that this process typically takes many many months to complete and no information on status will be shared with you due to privacy laws. However you should definitely report him since his behaviour absolutely indicates marriage fraud.

You need to collect a file of concrete proof like emails, text messages, once files, etc. Calling isn’t enough.

I have no emails or texts as we were in lockdown with this corona virus. It’s all verbal but I do have ppl that live with me that noticed a change in him as well as others outside the home that noticed it as well.

Unfortunately without very concrete evidence it will be hard to pursue a marriage of convenience case. You should report him but if the case goes forward his lawyers are likely to say there was a marriage breakdown soon after he got a PR card and it was just a coincidence. Would make sure to collect any evidence going forward.

0- send a messages (texto, or by Messenger, whatsapp ..) to your ex-husband to ask him why he leave? (and you still love him) .... why he breakdown and there is no problems between you? ... why break after he had the PR? To collecte some proofs and you should be smart to ask the questions when and how!
1- open a case in Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). When you call you choose the option to report “marriage of convenience” and they will give a case number and they ask you to fax them what it happened.
2- send a lettre to IRCC (I think to the office in your local province or city) to report that you are a victime of a marriage of convenience and you explain what it happened. After that , They will ask you to give proufs for what did you said.
3- check with a lawyer for nullity of marriage because your ex-husband had a bad intentions to merry you.
4- take an appointment with your local federal deputies to explaine him what it happened and prepare a lettre for that. He can give you some help. He can contact directly an immigration officer
