Just wanted to mention i married my wife in Philippines in 2009 by a judge in courthouse but when my wife finally gets to Canada we plan on re-marrying in a church as this was our plan in the first place but the church in her province of birth in Philippines was giving us the round-around.
We tried to book the priest and church in her province 7-8 months before our planned marriage date in May 2009 but they kept giving excuses and other requirements that we had to do before the date to book it which from talking to my church in Canada and talking to other priests in Manila they had told me that the requirements that church in her province was asking for was wrong and that they didn't need all that just to marry us.
A priest in Manila told me the reason her province was doing all that was only because that priest did not want to marry a pinay to a foreigner, he was prejudice so it was getting closer for me coming to Philippines to see my wife so we just planned on marry by judge then once she comes to Canada we will get my church here to re-marry us and to give my wife her wish of being married in a church.
So what i learned was that the best thing for foreigners to marry pinays is to just find a church in the big cities like Manila and such to get marry in because in smaller cities or certain provinces there will be people prejudice of foreigners marrying their beautiful pinays

hi there. sadly, there are provinces in the Phils. which are still very traditional and may have prejudices, but im sure these are only the exctions to the rule. u are right that u could get married in the city where things are more "modern". im just curious, what are these other reqmts? i got marrried in the phils recently too. and was it a roman catholic church? coz other religious sects here can have different and demanding requirments. and which province?

yes it was a catholic church and was in province of Sorsogon in a small city and they were asking so many papers like Baptismal, Birth certificate, Confirmation paper and other papers that had nothing to do with religion and when i talked to my church here in my country which is catholic too, they told me that church did not need all those papers just to marry you

hi. i used to be Catholic and i can say that those docs are required. Birth certficate is a must. Baptismal crtificate to prove u r baptized as catholic and confirmation certficate to make sure u hve undergone this sacrament which is required for all catholics. sad to say the docs u mentioned are all standard documents that catholic churches ask for, there may be churches that do not require this, maybe in the cities. sorsogon is pretty much a conservative province. i even heard of churches that required u to undergo the confrmation sacrament before u can get married
