Me and my girl friend studied grad certificate course - international busi mgmt, 4 semesters from Centennial

We both are on PGWP - if we get married will it boost our chance of getting PR?

So irrespective of the category in which we are applying, two PGWPs getting married to each has no benefit on filing PR... ok thanks

You're asking in the CEC section of the forum - so I answered according to that. It has no benefit for CEC. For FSW it could have benefits if the non-primary spouse takes IELTS (can increase your points to ensure you have the 67 required to apply). The nominee programs each have their own criteria.

well... it does not directly have any pluses or minuses in the CEC class... but if you are married, then which ever one qualifies first can be the principal applicant, and then the other included in the application as a spouse. (Benefit - one application instead of two, but still two application fees, etc.). Or, if you both qualify then each of you can apply as the principal applicant (the only benefit to that is if you're not 100% sure you qualify, and it costs $$$ since you still have to include each other as spouses on each application).

BTW, if you live together for at least 1 year, then the federal govt considers you to be "common-law spouses" and can apply the same as a legally married couple. You would need some documentary evidence of the 1 year of cohabitation....

Thanks jes_ON

We've been co-habitating over a year now... but how do we prove this?
Our mails come at the same address.. thats one I can think of..

Also, do we need to register for common-law or is it presumably understood?

Could you also tell me how I can receive email notifications of replies to my posts here?

See the Statutory Declaration for Common Law Union (one of the application forms).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/cec.asp

If you have been living together for over 1 year, you are required to inform the CRA of the change of marital status - there's a form to fill out and send in - keep a copy of that, that's one piece of evidence.

if its CEC NO specifically - though being married it gives you an option if couple is working which is - Person should be a principal applicant among two who is in better job profile ( NOC code falls under A as there is no subcap) , Better proof of proving ELIG . Rest as Jes_ON said both can also apply which make two application and making of more chance to be through.

I see a lot of NOs for this question, but, as per what I believe from a random questionnaire I filled long time for assessment of my eligibility, I belive everything counts. Marriage, Children, Age, Education etc etc. They might not make a huge difference, but, atleast helps.
