Hi all,

So in a few days my fiance and I are getting married and I recently learned that in my country they put people's ID numbers on the marriage certificate rather than passport numbers.

Of course I'd like to add my soon to be wife to my application which was already approved but I'm wondering what would be the best course of action here as CIC only know about my passport number they've never saw nor asked for my national ID number. Meaning they wouldn't be able to cross-reference my identity from marriage certificate with the information they already have about me.

Has anybody gotten into a similar situation? Thoughts?

Many thanks

IRCC is not going to care if your marriage certificate has a passport or national ID number.

My marriage certificate has neither. I don't think they care, they probably just look at the name. Don't forget passports will keep on changing, but you will stay married for a long time ...

How can you add your wife to an application where you have already received PPR?

You can, as long as you haven't landed yet.

Yes they do. So the old COPR will be cancelled and new one issued for both when spouse goes through medicals, submits police certificates and goea through usual checks. I don't think it affects the score, but i'm not sure whether anything is recalculated.

Marriage certificates with Passport numbers is the most ridiculous idea ever.
So everytime either renews passport, they need a new certificate ?
Certificates in India dont have any numbers just names, date of birth, parents names and permanent addresses (referring to where your family is from).
Florida does the same too. Ontario does birthplace instead of DOB.

CIC would compare the names on the certificates and other info (between passport and certificate) to validate the person's identity as married.

Thanks all.

If you do get married at any stage after application submission you can add your spouse into the application as long as you haven't landed, without that affecting your score. Spouse will only go through medical and usual BG checks - no ECA, job letters etc. You'd do need to submit new POF evidence pertaining to 2 people.
