Marriage Certificate necessary to apply for PR?

Hello, we're getting married on july 28 and will have word about the status of my fiance's visitro extension in early august but ive discovered that a marriage certificate takes 8-10 weeks to receive after application. Do i need this document to "update" her visitor extension request to a PR request? Or can I use the document we sign at the ceremon at city hall to do so? thank you

Marriage certificate is must but it required after nomination , so it is better to start your process accordingly .

They aren't applying under PNP. They are applying under family class. Agree the marriage certificate is mandatory.
