Hi there

we got married at the age of 19. will that cause any doubt to immigration? i've already been told that the proof we've attached was very good but this is giving me second thoughts as to if it may cause problems to CIC

Is it common where you're from to get married at an early age? If you have enough proof I don't think this will dismiss your application.

I don't think 19 is that young. If you have lots of proof your relationship is legit, then I think it'd be okay but I don't know. Hopefully someone else has had experience with marriage at 19 and immigration?

Then don't fill yourself with unnecessary doubt. Prepare your forms, gather as much evidence, correspondence, letters from family and friends and apply. CIC is scrutinizing all kind of applications for some reasons which do make sense and others which don't, the best you can do is just being honest.

I don't think they can actually judge you about your wedding... That would be really rude from CIC to do so. If you have enough proof to show the strength of your relationship, I do not think there will be any problems at this stage.

I got married at 24 years old and I never had any problems with CIC. There is no rules about an actual age to get married, as long as it is authentic and not forced, neither arranged... You're safe I believe. And as long as you're over 18 years old or the majority in your country... That's okay as well.

Congrats for the wedding by the way. I wish you luck with your application. My husband is from Denmark and will get his PR tuesday. :)

Don't even worry about it. I was 19 when I got married and my husband was 22. I sponsored him to Canada from Pakistan and our process was complete in exactly 1 year. So don't take any stress over it :)

What is more important, is how long you were dating/engaged before getting married. If you just knew each other a couple months then got married that would be a big red flag, while if you had a "normal" length (like around 1 year or more) relationship first and then got married that should be no problem and age shouldn't be a worry.

weve been dating, on our wedding day, for exactly three years

We submitted: 10 Pictures from our wedding, 5 from our honeymoon, 10 from trips to la ronde and ottawa.
We submitted her phone bill which states how often i called her and how often she called me. we have an average of 8000 texts per month, so we picked one day for each month of the last year and printed off how often we texted and how many phone calls we had. weve submitted a screenshot of skype calls between us in the last year.
We've submitted 4 letters i wrote to her, and 3 letter she wrote to me. We also added a bank statement that shows that we've made a joint bank account even a year BEFORE we got married, the booking confirmation for my flight to canada last time i visited her, and eventually a copy of each others will, which is beneficial towards the other. Also we got a letter from her mom (whom i ve been staying with during my last visit) and her 2 best friends stating how happy she was when she's with me.

A friend of mine got martied at 19. Her application was received by CIC on April 3, 2014. She received a letter that her file was sent to a local office for further processing a fewe months ago and she hasn't heard anything yet. They included a lot of proof with their application, but I guess it does raise some doubt for CIC when you get married so young...

If it's outland, then yes, that is perfectly normal. CIC-M sends it to the VO abroad for processing. If it's inland, then that's not a good sign. If the file is sent to a local office before receiving AIP, then that usually means that CIC has doubts about the relationship or admissibility. Etobicoke is one of the main offices for those relationships, and once the file is sent there, the wait time tends to skyrocket.
