Hello all,

I want to bring my girlfriend of 2 years from phillipines to Canada as fast as possible. Currently we are on the process of annulment which should be finalized by March next year. And i was wondering if I were to bring her to canada on a for a short period study (esl?) And then marry her while she is attending and apply for spouse visa immediately after we are married. Would there be any issues from immigration standpoint. IE can we be denied? I have lived with her and travelled together in phillipines so i dont really have an issue proving that it is a legit marriage. My concern is because the short term study means she has to leave, would the officers enforce and overrule the marriage because we are sort of circumventing the normal procedure of spousal visa. The only reason i am not marrying her in phillipines is because i would like to save the year of processing time for the visa.

Please advise me. Thanks!

Sure - you can try. Impossible for any of us to say if it will be successful. ESL study permits tend to have a higher rate of refusal since they have been too frequently used as a means of getting someone to Canada who isn't really a genuine student (similar to what you're trying to do).
