Marriage after PR visa issuance

hi, sorry to barge in your thread. Can someone help me out with my situation.

We have applied under FSW1 under common-law partnership. We are dont with our medicals and payment of RPRF. We are now waiting for the passport request.

My problem is... What if after we both receive our visas we decide to get marry before leaving for canada. We'll that cause further delays in our application. When in fact we both applied as common-law partners and we're approve as such? (finger's crossed) .... How do we deal with this? we want to get marry before leaving for canada but dont want to put our application at risk. Thanks for your inputs.

maybell, i don't think there should be an issue... because you'll still taking the same person along as your spouse now... they may need to change the the relationship in the system, so it may amount to a small delay. But, as such it should not be a problm at all.

but, still if you feel there is some amount of risk then get married in your country for family's sake and don't take a marriage certificate. Go to Canada and do a court marriage thereafter...

Dear annbann/seniors
is it possible for an applicant to add her wife in his application just for issuance of visa to her but she would not accompany him intially to go to Canada. In this way whether the funds requirement would be for 1 person or for 2 persons ?

Your dependent wife can join you to Canada after you, but before the expiry of her visa.
If your accompanying wife do not initially go with you, or even if she is non-accompanying, you still need to show proof of funds for 2 persons.
Initially while applying you will show funds only for you as you are single now. During the process, or after the visa issuance, if you got married, then you will send documents for your wife and updated proof of funds for your wife too.

If wife is added in application before/after issuance of visa but before landing and you have written a cover letter that only principal applicant(husband, in your own case) then funds requirement will be just for you only. All dependants whether accompanying or not must be declared and will be examined to assess admissibility. You will only pay processing fee for your wife (even though she won't go with you). You will also need to pay for her police clearance and medical exam. She must pass both security and medical checks but since she won't accompany you proof of fund for husband alone (ONE person) is sufficient.

If dependent spouse is non-accompanying,then no processing or RPRF
Proof of funds is for while family whether accompanying or not

just to update you.
I landed in canada yesterday with my wife. I am so delighted to be in my new home. This is another world and I will do the best to even make it better than I met it. This is almost a perfect different world to me.
They returned our passports on 31/8/09 but because my medicals was about to expire we only had 4days to land. I was able make it and encourage people to use my case as an example. Whereever God destines someone will be, even though it may take time, someone will surely be there.

Thanks so much. I will try to contact the visa office after we receieve our visas so that we still have the option incase it will cause delay.
