When filling in my PR application i had answered NO for visa refusals even though i have had a visa refused once. The reason i had answered no for it was i got the visa the next time i applied.
However, i am worried after going through the forums with few saying that it can be taken as misrepresentation on my part.
It is nearly 5 months since i filed the PR application. So, should i be raising a CSE?

Visa History from beginning
- US visa granted
- US tourist visa rejected
- Canadian tourist visa granted (had made known about the US tourist visa refusal when filing the application as was aware the US and Canada share inforamtion pertaining to visa)
- US tourist visa granted.

Raise a CSE with LoE.

ok thanks.

since it is close to 5 months , is there a possibility that they might have overlooked the visa refusal part since I have the same visa granted.
Also, had ordered gcms notes in December. As per it, information from US was asked for way back in august beginning.

I think you need to inform them as they can find this out. US and Canada share every possible database as they are well knit allies. Generally people get a form asking for explanation if they find such things, and if you have a CSE at that points, you could justify this. I am not an expert here, so wait for other senior members opinion too.

ok, would a raise with CSE with LOE.
My concern was it should not open can of worms where in CIC might have overlooked(nearly 5 months now with information on US visa asked way back in Aug 2016) the visa refusal but raising a CSE highlights it.

If you are doubtful, google this forum and see how many people forgot to declare a denial of their visas and got rejection. I'm not an expert here as I haven't got my ita, but just suggested from what I read here. Your call or check with other senior members.

US and Canada share information. Unlikely it will be overlooked.

Understand that you are flirting with a refusal and a five year ban from Canada if you do nothing. You need to let CIC know about your error.

Your choice.

I am in the same boat and was following the conversation. I was confused between bringing attention to a mistake made versus confessing about the mistake. However, took the risk of sending the CSE...Let's see.

By going through the replies, the best option that is available is to raise a CSE.
Would raise one at the earliest.
Thanks all for the information.

@itsmee Is it possible to share the content of the CSE raised.

Main CSE: Please include the attached LOE into my application

LOE:
Dear Visa Officer,
Subject: Change to the Statutory Question regarding Visa Refusal to any Country
In the PR application, where the question was asked if my visa has been refused to Canada, I stated No as my visa has never been refused for Canada. However, I noticed that it was asking about visa refusal for any country and not just about Canada. Therefore, I want to declare that my visa was refused for USA. Please see below for more details:
Visit Visa refused in **** and student visa refused in ****.
The reason for both refusal was: I didn't have stronger ties to **********. However, I was issued Visit/Business Visa on ******* valid till ******* when I showed **********proving I will leave USA at the end of my stay.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thanks,
******

I have made this mistake and I am extremely worried because of this.... is there anything else I should do to correct this? I have sent a CSE but haven't heard back. Should I go ahead and send schedule A with correct...or any affidavit that I made a mistake.....

Anyone who made this mistake... how you handled the situation?

Hi Itsmee,

I made the same mistake and this is what i did:

AOR : 12 Oct
I realized the same mistake and sent them a LOE and newly filled Schedule A via CSE on 28 Oct.

Got a reply on 4 Nov 2016 that the information has been passed to the concerned department. So i didnt do anything else after this.

I recently ordered and read my GCMS notes. In the notes i can see that on 22nd November it was added to the notes that an updated Schedule A had been submitted for the incorrect answer to statutory question.

Hope this helps.

This is very helpful. Thanks so much. Did you complete the entire schedule A or just the statutory questions in schedule A?
