Hi,

I would like to seek guidence whilst submitting my Student visa applucation. I currently hold "Canadian visit visa" which was applied by my ex-husband showing him as my sponsor. Now that we are seperated and I have been granted admission for Masters, what should I choose for my Marital status during visa application? If I mention it as divorce, then i have to submitt divorce letter which is still under process and wont be available before semester starts . Can I put down as single but Im not sure how this will affect my visa application as visit visa was granted upon my previous status i.e. married. My passport was not changed after marriage, hence it is still with my original name and fathers name with status marked as single.

Pls help.

Hi

You have to choose the only option that applies: Separated.

No - you cannot say you're single. That's misrepresentation and you could end up with a ban from Canada. You should say you're separated.

Thanks alot. Now thats clear and out of the way. Do I have to provide the documentation also? Like a divorce letter? If yes, then that means ill have to defer my course untill next semester as the letter will take time as per the normal dissolution process.

Pls note, financial support is taken care by my father.

No, you don't need to provide proof of divorce.

Hi,
I am facing the same kind of situation but my marriage was never registered, but my divorce case is still running and also have filed one criminal case against my spouse. There is no case against me. I have applied for student visa and have even got offer letter form University for masters course.

Now that i have to apply for visa, I have few questions
1. Do i need to give any document stating that i am legally separated and i have filed 2 cases or just by showing separated will work.
2. Does this kind of scenario delay the visa process?
