Manila : How soon after Marriage can I apply

This may or may not be specific to Manila. How quickly after marriage (I am born Canadian, she is born Filipina) can I begin the sponsorship. In other words : What would I require as far as paperwork that is NOT immediately available to me. Can I literally pre-prepare all my documents and submit it online the day after our wedding?

Been waiting 4 years for this moment, don't want to waste ANY more time.

You will need your marriage certificate for sure. A current Option C printout. She will need PCC/Medical checks. These are all things that you have to include with the application, so you won't be able to file the next day as some of these will indeed take a few weeks to receive or more. You can start filling in the other paperwork though but check to ensure they are current when you finally are ready to mail your application.

The marriage certificate is probably the only thing you can't have all ready by the time you are married since you have to be married first. Everything else you can start getting ready before and have it all ready to go by the time you get married.

Just to clarify : We will be married in the Philippines. From my previous marriage I remember the paperwork you sign at the ceremony gets sent away and you receive your marriage license (is that the word?) in the mail some weeks later.

Is the paperwork we sign the day of sufficient, or am I submitting that to the Philippine government and waiting for something back from them?

I was under the impression that medical checks and so on are submitted upon request when the interview process begins during the second phase.

I'm pretty sure they want the actual certificate that gets mailed to you. That would appear to be the "official" document.

In the Philippines, I don't anticipate that being a quick process. EVERYTHING there takes a unbelievable amount of time

yes. This I understand. In Canada, the paperwork you sign AT the ceremony is sent away to the Canadian government, and some time later you receive your official marriage certificate. My question was more specific : Is the same thing true of the Philippines, or is the paperwork that is signed AT the ceremony the paperwork I would be using for sponsorship?

As long as what you hold are registered to civil registrar it's valid and what you can do ask your church or civil registrar where you married how long it take to register at national statistics office or NSO then you can request for marriage certificate NSO copy. They don't send you marriage certificate NSO copy. I don't also say civil registrar or church copy is not valid as long as registered. What happening immigration always ask for NSO copy if they ask for marriage, death or birth.

You WILL need the marriage certificate from the NSO in the Philippines. To my understanding, CIC will not accept the marriage certificate from the local civil registry, it has to be on NSO paper. This will not be sent to you automatically but you can order it online at this address: https://www.ecensus.com.ph/default.aspx for 20$.
It will be delivered to you in Philippines or Canada via registered mail.
You can expect at least 2 months for your certificate to be registered at NSO, 3 if you are getting married in the province.
I got married in September 2013, I got the certificate in December 2013, I filed with CIC in January 2014. I married in Metro Manila.

This is what I did to get NSO copy of my marriage cert 1 month after (i heard, you can even get it 2 weeks after):

After the ceremony, i did not receive right away the marriage cert we signed but it was given to us 3 days after... that is my personal copy. after i received that, i went to the local civil registry where we got married and asked for the officer to have an electronic endorsement of my marriage cert, i paid Php 100 for that. Then a month after, I called the Local Civil Registry and sked if my marriage certificate is already available at NSO and the officer said yes. I went to NSO office and requested for my marriage cert, it took a few minutes to request but was told to come back 3 hours after to get the copy. Had i called 2 weeks after, maybe my NSO marriage cert was already available at that time but I waited a month before i called them.

Usually, if you will not request for electronic endorsement, sometimes you get your NSO marriage cert 1 year after.

Thats true. It is also called the Legal capacity to Marry for the canadian citizen thats the counterpart for the certificate of no marriage for filipina partner.

However getting the NSO certified marriage certificate will might take up to 6 months to process but there is an exception where in you can expedite the process into a month by asking the civil registry office for the advance endorsement of the marriage contract to the NSO.
