Hi all,
I am a 2011 applicant and got RQ for my partner in June 2012, was out of the country at that time and we sent it 4 months later and since that time no news at all. They gave us hard time while renewing our PRs last year but we got it after 9 months of submitting the renewal application. 36 months of waiting for our citizenship test/oath without even getting invited to make the test, so we decided to hire a lawyer and work towards Mandamus to check if this delay is a violation of my rights or not. It is really unreasonable delay in CIC processing of a simple citizenship application since I am in full compliance with any residency obligations, and maintain my PR status at all times. Whenever I call CIC, they say that it is a security check delay. it's usually a background checks expiry loop where one of my 3 checks is always expiring thus having to be re-run and by the time that is done one or both of the other checks have expired and guess what re-run time again!

I am writing to see if you have suggestions of the best lawyer in filing Mandamus and the cost? Anyone heard about Clarisa Waldman in Toronto? Any reviews? Thanks

Hi Egyo,

I am in the same boat like you.applied 2011, 37 months passed , got RQ in 2013, NO TEST yet :( , Please keep us updated on your case . I have ordered ATIP and waiting to see what is happening with my application. I also contacted my MP but no help so far. which is your local office ?

I am in Kitchener office but our file is at St. Claire long time ago. Did you shop around for lawyers? Anyone would recommend a certain lawyer please? Any websites where I can fine info on the reviews/ratings? THANKS!

Hi Egyo,

Do let me know about your choice of lawyer. I have also started thinking about wom.one fellow recommended "law society of upper canada" website to look for a lawyer. is it 3500 plus tax or tax is included ? is your a family application or individual ?

It is a family application...the cost has been negotiated and went below that amount...and flexibility in paying the cost over a length of time. More than 90 % successful cases within a few weeks of filing without the need to go for hearing, etc. I feel very optimistic about it

Hi egyo,

that is good to know that cost is less than 3500$ and did you investigate about the lawyer, like his success rate in cases like wom ? If the case did not go for hearing and hopefully you get the citizenship before court hearing, will you still pay the full fee ?
WOM ll be filed in Toronto or Kitchener court ?
