Hello all, A quick summary of my situation before I get to the questions.
My wife and I sent out our "Inland spousal sponsorship + OWP" application to CIC last year, and successfully received the OWP portion in April / 2016, and our application has been "in process" since about that time.
For my first question, I would like to understand/clarify for myself what stage of the process we're in.
- So after receiving the OWP back in April / 2016, are we now in the stage where we have to wait about 16 months for the "approval in principal"? If so would this mean that if everything goes well, we should get our approval in principal sometime by August /2017?
My second question is about maintaining status in Canada while we wait for the "approval in principal".
- The open work permit we received back in April / 2016 is valid till 2018. Would this legally allow my wife to stay in Canada until we receive the "approval in principal"? Even if she is not currently working? If my memory serves me correctly, we should also have implied status from the "inland spousal sponsorship + OWP" that we sent out last year which has been "in process" for a while now. Basically I'd like to know if anything else needs to be done to "maintain status" in Canada now that we are just waiting for approval and have the OWP, or are we good to just wait now.
As always, many thanks! ;D
