Can somebody clarify?

Letter asking for additional info, in our case included passport biopage.

If we are successful are they going to still ask us to submit the passport to get the visa, or have procedures changed recently?

CIC no longer requires the physical passport to issue the visa and COPR for people from visa-exempt countries (list is at the bottom of the page at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.asp). The specific procedure (e.g., asking for copies of the full passport before issuing visa) has varied a bit between visa offices so can't give you general info on that.

Thanks OhCanadiana. We were asked in a letter for additional info to submit my wife's passport biopage along with my (sponsor's) intent to return to Canada. We got in trouble because we didn't submit enough intent evidence, but we are again waiting now for a response from the Seoul office.

You're welcome. I'm not familiar with the Seoul Office specifically but, extrapolating from other visa offices, they will most likely ask for another photocopy of either the bio page or your whole passport once you are approved (I'm guessing you are Korean given the Seoul VO and don't need a visa to visit Canada). From the additional request they made, there's still a few steps before your case is approved so hopefully it all goes well - and quick - for you :)

Good luck as you wrap up the process!

Thanks OhCanadiana.

Her visa doesn't expire for a few years yet, hopefully they don't need it again.

I haven't been on this forum for very long; what steps would be left, assuming they accept my intent evidence this time? Our consultant actually suggested we were going to get COPR 2-3 weeks after submitting the additional evidence. So we are hoping with the additional information this time we can be done? Or am I off by a few weeks/months? Would appreciate your knowledge about what steps are remaining in this process.

If she does need a visa to visit Canada (ie if her nationality is not that of a visa exempt country), then they will need her passport to issue the immigrant visa.

Assuming medical is done and approved already (with no outstanding questions), they will need to do a full review of your file followed by a security check on your application which depending on the country(ies) she's lived in can be really fast or take a longer time (some countries seem to batch them). Then, they'll be ready to issue the visa and will ask for her passport.

May it go quick for you :)
