Hello,

I am looking for some help. My Fiance and I are getting married May 23rd 2015 in Greece. I am a Canadian Citizen, and she is a Ukranian. After we geting married I will apply to sponser her. The question is what name do I put on the application?. She wants to take my last name after we get married, but her passport, ID etc will all have her maiden name on it.

Is it less complicated and faster to submit all the paperwork with maiden name, then when she arrives in Canada we change it? We dont not want to wait for her to get a new passport with my last name, for it would tkae 3-4 months in the Ukraine.

Any help would be welcomed.

1. Think you answered your own question. If you don't want to wait until she gets a new passport, then file under her maiden name.
2. Once she "lands" then you can go through the name change.

ok.. since the sponsership takes 1-3 months for myself... can I put her madin name down for the spondership paperwork, then change it after?

I would hold off and change her name later. If you have all different documents with different name it may cause a bit of confusion... Change it when she lands. She can always call her self Mrs >>>> but this is all going to take time and you don't want to wait, as the sponsorship and the application for spousal is going to Mississauga at the same time.
