Hello, I recently lost my passport with my Canadian visa in it. I still have my old study permit/ POE letter that I received when entering Canada for the first time. Do I have to apply for a brand new visa, as my old one was still valid before it got lost. I don't know what to do, I have to return for school by the 12th of January and I don't know what to do.
your help is really appreciated

Did you report it lost or stolen to the police where you are? That would be the first step. Then report it to IRCC (they'll want that police report). And probably a new passport, cause they won't let you in without one. I wouldn't expect it replaced before the 12th, so you might want to give your school a heads up.

As previously noted get a new passport and assume you’ve already reported the other one missing. You’ll need a new permit and visa. You can attempt to see if you can get emergency processing but you are facing a very tight timeline. If you have a flight booked that may also help but if it is refundable or you can change the departure date I would consider extending your stay. I would also print out your transcripts, proof of registration and paid tuition to show that you have been a genuine student. Good luck.
