I was just looking for some help. I never knew about this site site when I submitted my application.

I have 2 specific items that could generate an RQ.

1. I lost my passport and its mentioned in the new replacement passport I got from the country I got. Did anyone else have this kind of an issue?

2. I have a special needs child. She's going to be 8 now. We never knew about it when we came to Canada as PR and she was just 2. did anyone have this kind of complication?

What kind of challenges did you face in the citizenship process? Please do let me know if any of you or anyone you know has gone through what I'm going through.

thanks in advance.

1. Lost passport has historically been an RQ trigger - how can CIC verify absences/ declared dates (read exits from Canada) when they don't have your travel documents? Many an applicant has conveniently lost their passport to mask undeclared absences. If your lost passport covers any of the 4 year qualifying period and if your application is already shaky with other RQ triggers then it may not be a happy outcome for you (long haul CJ hearing). What proof do you have of physical presence in Canada in the period covered by the lost passport if relevant - if its not full time employment with a reputable organization (operating in compliance with provincial/national legislation including deducting payroll taxes and remitting them to CRA) then its a harder sell.

2. Not an issue for Citizenship. Did you include her in your application as a minor?

Well I lot my passport in the airport when I was try to go out of Canada. So I immediately went to the police and report it. I got a replace for it and this was 4 years ago. I did work on small job where my taxes and EI were deducted. I understand mine to be a difficult situation. I'm sure most of you are aware how long it takes to find a proper job in Canada and this was during the very beginning of my settlement here in Canada. But I had solid proof for 3 years. Prior to that the 8 months is a little shaky as you said. But I hope for the best. My test is complete and I am waiting for the oath....I had a pretest RQ. Hopefully it gets reviewed soon and I get to hear about the decision soon.

Yes I did include my 2 daughters alone with mine. My elder one is the special needs one. Hopefully this will not be impacting my application.

What would look like on this situation? let's say one of my friend landed 3.5 year ago. He has passport that covers his 3.5 years travel history from landing to the occasional travels to home country which could be 5 month. So his passport has all the travel history of past 3.5 years since his landing.

He applied in June where he had to provide photocopy for 6 month covering of his old expired passport before his landing to Canada as PR and that passport is missing/lost and not in possession anymore. Since CIC will have all his travel history since landing, what outcome might be in his case when he will face interview?

It's good that you immediately reported your lost passport, and reported it in Canada, as an in-Canada situation is less mysterious to CIC than outside of Canada situations. Also, the incident entirely predates your qualifying period, yes?

Those are good indications, but lost passports still puts you at risk for slow processing. If you have a spouse who is applying soon, you may want your children to be put on your spouses application instead, since they may get citizenship sooner that way.

Regarding your daughter, I can't imagine what negative consequence a special needs child would have on your family application. You are all already PRs, so there is no issue regarding appraising the applicant's medical admissibility or whatnot. A disability does not make you or your daughter less qualified for the protections of citizenship. Just like special needs children who are born in Canada, your daughter is, or will soon be entitled to Canadian citizenship.

The only caveat to that would be if she were applying as an adult and needed to get an exemption or modification to the knowledge test or language requirements. But that is not the case here.

thank you all.

I see the only concern is with my lost passport. Yes that passport includes 7 months of my residency to be assessed out of the preceding 4 years. Lets stay positive that everything works out in the next few months. I finished my test in Feb 2014 and waiting for last step of oath ceremony. Fortunately my wife already has her Canadian citizenship and unfortunate that my kids are still waiting with me.
