Hello,

I have lost my old passport which I used for landing. I have the original landing paper still, and the lost passport covers less than 1 year of the eligibility period. I landed on August, 2012 and I meet the physical presence requirement by a wide margin (around 700 days). The reason for losing it is because I threw it in the laundry 4 years ago and disposed of it not knowing it will be needed (I know it sounds stupid).

I do have a photocopy of the biographical pages of the lost passport. I am sending that in with photocopy of the current one.

During the <1 year period, I attended high school and traveled back to my home country for around 40 days. I am planning to send my high school transcript and certificate of entry/exit from my home country to further support my story.

Based on this, do you guys think it will get denied? Would be great to receive some insight as to how this application will go.

Thanks

No it will not reject on that basis. Please attached copy of police complaint along with citizenship application.

Good Luck

So even though I meet all requirements by great margin, it is a for-sure rejection? Not even RQ?

Sorry for typo

Oh okay, thank you! One more question, for the application, should I check the box for Table B (for gaps in the travel document) and then provide my reasoning below, even though technically there are no gaps in holding the travel documents? Or should I check Table A (no gaps in holding travel documents) and attach a separate letter of explanation?

I have a very similar problem, I lost my old, expired passport a couple of years ago but never reported it as I already had my new passport issued. What do I do when I don't have the police report? I have a photocopy of the biographical pages and my entry visa. I traveled a few times with this passport, only to the US though. Do you think they'll take i94 as a proof?
Thanks.

Lost passport means the visas and stamps on it can't be verified as entry/exit proof. So that would increase the chance of RQ, but definitely won't lead to a rejection. If you have i94 report then it should help to reduce the chance of RQ. It's totally up to your case processing officer though.

You do have a gap in travel documents due to the missing passport, right? Just check that and explain.
