Hi Guys,

I applied from within Canada (Sydney) in June of 2014, and still have not been sent my medical request.
I applied for GCMS notes May 25th and received them yesterday.

I have been living and working in Canada since August 2012 on a one year IEC visa and then a two year Iec visa which will expire this coming August.
I applied through the CEC for PR for myself, my wife and my two young children.

There were three issues with my file, two minor issues and one which appears to be a major issue.

1. I need to send a copy of my youngest son's passport.
2 I need a police cert for when I lived in London, UK (2010-2011)

3. I initially worked here as a Carpenter (NOC 7271,Category B skilled trade) fom August 2012 to April 2013 8 months roughly 1500 hours for two different companies.
I then began scaffolding (NOC 7445,Category C trade) from April 2013 to present. At the time i was told by a co-worker that C category trades count for half the hours of B category trades when applying for PR, so included this as work experience from 20 May 2013 to 19th of Aug 2013.

Yesterday I found out this is not the case and that the scaffolding hours are not counted as the NOC code for this work experience is not under skill level 0, A or B.

The last note was dated Feb 4th 2015.
Is there any way past this?
How can I keep my Canadian dream alive?

Any advice on how to proceed from here would be GREATLY appreciated!

Based on the information you have provided your application will definitely be refused since you don't qualify for CEC. Only your NOC B work experience counts towards CEC and you do not have the full year of experience required to qualify for CEC. CEC is not a viable option for you and there will be nothing to appeal once you are refused.

I would recommend that you look into the Federal Skilled Trade immigratio program and also the Provincial Nomination Program for the province you are living in today. There's no guarantee you will qualify for either. However this is where I would start researching if I were you.

You'll also need to come up with a quick plan for what you'll do once your IEC expires in August. If you want to remain in Canada - you'll either need to obtain a new IEC (if you qualify for a third) or obtain a new closed work permit based on a full time job offer and approved LMIA from your employer.

Thanks for your response Scylla.

In the interim I have applied for the BOWP IMM5710 (Application to Change Conditions, Extend my Stay or Remain in Canada as a Worker).
I understand this will give me one extra year.

As it seems I will be denied, I think it is best to switch back to Carpentry straight away (Skill level B) and use this extra year to gain the required work experience.

Have you received AOR for your CEC application? If so - then the BOWP should be approved.

I have since received my BOWP.
My plan now is to go through express entry.
I scored 501 points in the eligibility test, which seems to be a good score.
I am wondering if I have to wait until I am officially denied PR through the CEC before I continue with express entry?

If so is there any way to speed this up.....my BOWP is only good until next June.

Does anyone know how long you have to send in extra supporting documents?
Also does anyone know if it's possible to change the qualifying work experience period?

Thanks.

You're usually given 30 days to submit extra supporting documentation.

No - you can't change the qualifying work experience period.

You are fortunate to get a second chance through the BOWP. You do not have to wait to submit your express entry profile. Hopefully you will have learned not to rely on friends for important information, but to access the information provided by CIC.

The only way to sort of speed things up is to get an LMIA approved offer of permanent employment (extra 600 pts) or a provincial nomination (extra 600 pts).
