4 months is too short to hire someone in IT, if a company does decide to hire you it will most likely be opening boxes taking computer out, folding the boxes and putting it in recycle cans. That would be the scope of your IT job

Not really.

IT companies have internship programs exactly aimed for 3-4 months periods during the summer. The job is usually entry level with the lowest you can get (35-40 yearly).

These kind of jobs are usually found and offered in IT job fairs at Universities.

I have never seen entry level IT jobs in Canada going for 35 to 40k yearly. Either they will ask you for substantial work experienceor you gain employment through someone who has good relation with the manager.

Really? Then I think you need to keep a closer look at openings.

In fact I was a councelor for 2 new hires, cero experience, cero relationships. We remain friends :)

(BTW for those new hires it was more around 50k yearly).

No one talked about coming to Canada.

Please read carefully my posts. I specifically said that those opportunities are given/found in career fairs. Career fairs are targeted to enrolled students in Canadian institutions.

I was assuming that OP was an enrolled student in a Canadian institution looking for a Summer oportunity. Maybe he is not. Students have more chances to get exchange opportunities through programs with their universities, if that is the case I would suggest visiting his university's career center. I have seen several people in international student experience-interchange (kind of WHV).

So are you a career counselor? And can you help people get jobs who have no experience, no relationships?

I have had this role in differente companies I have worked for. Let me clarify, a career counselor advises younger resources to make right choices that will help them in their career development in the company.

A few years ago I helped in recruiting efforts, so yes, at that time I could help people, unfortunately not anymore.
