Hi all,

My questions here are reguarding my gf. She has come up to Canada to visit me. First off I was hoping for her to stay here in canada up to 6 months, being that the most a visitor can stay in canada. But when she crossed the boarder, the customs officer only stamped her for a week....*sigh*. Now iam a little concerned about this "obviously". Can she apply for an extension while waiting (in canada) for that extention to be approved by CIC?

And another side question. If she decides she wants to stay perminantly here in canada while she is "visiting" can she remain in canada while waiting for the PR status approved?

You need to apply for the extension ASAP for her visit stay and yes you can apply for her but we need to know a few things first. To apply for her you have to be common law or a spouse.
Now for the common law you must be living with eachother for a year before you can apply under this and a spouse well thats pretty much in itself (married).
So if she wants to move her permanently you have two choices....she keeps her visit status legal for a year moves in with you and stays for that year then you can apply as common law or she comes you get married then apply.
Hope this helps.
