Hi, just wanted some opinions as I'm in two minds on what to do regarding my situation. I've been in Canada on visitor status since April 2018 and my partner and I sent off our outland spousal application in November 2018 (received AOR in Jan) as I was wanting to go home for a few months (Feb-June) for work. The plan was for him to come over in May and spend some time with my family and for us to fly back to Canada in June and depending on where we were up to with the process then it would either be finished by then or we would wait for it to be completed back in Canada.

My concerns are regarding the 10months I have spent here and only having approx 5 months back in my home country (UK) before coming back over. Would this be a reason to be denied entry even if I explain about our spousal application? I'm in two minds about leaving and just waiting out the process here but our financial situation isn't the best with me not being able to work. Has anybody been through anything similar recently?

you spent 10 months in Canada.......visitor visa or visa exempt usually allow 6 months stay except you applied for extension, if you did then the 10 months should be no problem.......most spousal sponsorship are completed within 12 months.....as you plan you may assume 12 months processing time, it may take less or more.......refusal or permission to enter Canada will depend on the border officer and not anyone's guess.

Pretty much what wakki said.

Possible (but not likely) that you will have CoPR by June 2019 (I certainly wouldn't plan on it!). No reason why you couldn't come back to Canada as you suggested in June 2019 as a visitor under 'dual intent', but you would need to be prepared to show ongoing ties back in the UK (house / rented place etc.) and travel on a return ticket with the amount of clothes and other stuff one would expect for a visitor (i.e. don't bring all your worldly possessions!).

It is then up to the guy at the border. But if you can do all of this, I would have thought you would be OK.
