Looking for housing

I have no credit and am having trouble looking for housing for my family (My spouse, myself and three children) and I. We have the means to pay but having no credit seems to get us no where. Does anyone know or have suggestions if where we can look or go? We are looking. In the Ottawa Gatineau area but are willing to go a bit further if necessary.

In toronto area ppl with no credit usually start with renting basements.

Are you able to pay multiple months in advance? 6 months? Able to provide bank records show good savings? How large a place are you looking for? House or apartment?
