Hi,
I am looking for a job in Canada in project management/strategy/business development area. I have Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Uni of Michigan USA and 7 years of experience in USA at a fortune 50 company.

Any tips on finding a job offering visa sponsorship?

Thanks!
Ron

you might qualify for the federal skilled worker program with your engineering degree. defintely go on the CIC website and take the survey to see if you qualify. Besides that, getting a canadian employer to give a job offer and apply for LMO to prove a canadian can't do the job is very difficult to do. I would encourage emphasizing any engineering expertise you have.

Thank you rhcohen2014.
I checked the eligibility and it comes out to 79 points (+10 if I get a job offer).

Is it possible for me to get a temp work permit in order to secure a job? Can I apply for a temp work visa without an offer?
The Perm residency approval can take up to 2-3 years per the website.

Thanks!

first i wouldn't go by the processing times listed on the website. for family class pr they are not accurate. i can't say for other processing times, though i doubt any of it is accurate.

as far as i know, any work permit starts with a job offer. it's kind of the catch 22 of trying to work in canada. you can't get a job without a visa, and you can't get a visa without a job offer.

unfortunately, the us doesn't offer a working holiday visa for young professionals, so being a skilled worker is someone's best bet.
