Hi everyone so to try and cut this as short as possible , we have been waiting 33 months for PR primarily because halfway through the process my husband was asked to file a criminal rehabilitation application which we got approved for yesterday after a 15 month wait for that, in that waiting time he suffered a heart attack in june of last year CIC has now asked us to go for another set of medicals as our originals have now expired, my husband has a stent fitted after his heart attack and now is in excellent health, he went for his yearly check up with his consultant and his medication was all reduced. no need ever to use his nitro spray so my ? is would this now make us medically inadmissible . if anyone could help i would appreciate any feedback just seems like one thing after another for us in this long road to PR status :-\

I think it's going to be difficult for any of us to guess. It will really depend on how the panel physician evaluates your husband's case and how likely the physician believes your husband may have any complications within the next 5-10 years that might create a burden on the Canadian health care system. I don't know how familiar you are with the medical inadmissibility process. However if CIC plans to refuse your application for this reason, they will first send you a fairness letter to give you the opportunity to respond and prove the costs of your husband's health care in Canada won't exceed $6,500 per year. You then have a set number of days (30?) to respond with evidence. Given the situation you are facing, it might be wise to prepare for the fact that you may receive this letter (but obviously hope you don't) and begin preparing a response in case you do. If you search for "fairness" on this forum you should find plenty of historical threads that you can read through to see what the letters say and how people have responded to them. Of course hopefully none of that is necessary - but better to be prepared. Good luck.

Hi Scylla, just thought id give you an update on what happened at the medical on tuesday the doctor took all information regarding heart attack entered it in to the system. He stated that this should not stop us getting PR although they may ask for further information but at the time of submission to cic on Tuesday they did not request any further information, don't know if this is a positive sign or not ?? :)

CIC ultimately decides. What the doctor said is a positive sign. However CIC most likely hasn't even started reviewing the results yet. The additional information requests don't come right at submission - they typically come later once CIC has had the opportunity to review. The review process can take a few weeks.
