Hi,
We are living in the UK now, planning on returning to Canada this summer. I sponsored my wife (UK citizen) through London some time ago, and I recently checked E-CAS and found that our application status has changed from "in process" to "medical documents received - decision made - we will be contacting you". Our application was routine so I assume that the decision was favourable and we are now waiting for the passport request letter to arrive.
Any idea how long it takes for the passport request letter to arrive?
How long does it take for CHC in London to process a visa stamp and return the passport?
Rather than mailing the passport to CHC, can we take it to London in person to get it stamped? Would that speed things up?
The reason I ask is that we are planning on flying back to Canada mid-June. So we'll need to have our passports in hand then, with or without the visa stamp. If we can't get the passport back from London in time for our flight, is there any reason why we can't go on to Canada and enter as visitors? Could we then mail the passport to London from Canada and, once we get the passport back, go through the landing process at a CIC office in Canada or at a US border crossing?
Thanks!
