I am in a dilemma and I hope someone can help.

I have applied for PR in March 2010 so far waiting for Medical requests.

I applied while under a Post-Grad Work Permit, which expired July 2011. To keep my status in Canada legal, I had my employer, one of the big banks, to apply for LMO and now I am under a Temporary Work Permit. Funny thing is I was hired as a permanent employee while under my post-grad work permit.

My dilemma is the temporary work permit expires in July 2012. I'm hoping I get PR before then, but I want to be sure I have all bases covered just in case that doesn't happen.

Any suggestions on what I can do in this situation?

You would need to apply for another LMO, this time including advertising efforts. Don't worry. It's not so hard. But yes, you'll also have to process a new work permit using the new LMO.

I'm in your position right now. My work permit will expire soon and PR hasn't been processed yet.

Good luck!

will your employer be willing to post the job for 2 weeks to satisfy LMO requirements?

im not so sure mine will, considering my job is permanent and technically they're not advertising an available job.

Mine did, and they actually couldn't find anyone else with the skills and experience...

Did your employer end up doing any interviews?

I'm worried that I work for a big bank and I get the feeling like I'm expendable, even though I have cumulative of 2 years with this company and this department.

Doesn't hurt to try though, I'll try to talk to HR in December to get things moving.

Just ask them. It's harder to find someone else. Big corps are used to these processes... And Canada needs people like you, with experience, good language skills, etc...

It's too bad that the employer didn't request the LMO asking for 2 years of work for you. You could have gotten a 2 year work permit. This is allowed for applicants on a PGWP that is expiring. Too late now but for others in this position, it's good information.

Well, it's a Permanent position so it was one of those things where my employer and I didn't know for how long we can put. The LMO HR Canada gave me only said 1 year though. =/ too bad though, that would have saved me a world of a headache

Hi All,
I came to Canada 6 years back and applied for Immigration under Skilled Worker Class Category and my Immigration was refused because I was short by 1 point. According to the assessment I had 66 points instead of 67 points. I again applied for Immigration in 2007 and this time it was refused because the Detroit Immigration officer invited me for an interview in 2008 and rejected my application because I don't have enough work experience and I didn't had Indian Tax forms. In 2008 I went to George Brown College and studies HR and finally in 2009 I landed up in HR with Recruitment Agency under Post Graduate Work Permit. I applied under LMO and after receiving positive LMO, I received the 2 years of my work permit. In 2010 Feb, I applied for my immigration under Federal Class category and haven't heard any news, the last I heard from Canadian High Commission in September, 2010 and received my 2nd AOR. Now, my work permit is going to expire in Jan 2012 and I don't think so, I would be able to get my paper work until then. The other problem is that even though my employer is willing to sponsor me but under the new rules of LMO and work permit - he didn't pay the other employees he sponsored in past two years the same wages as he offered at the time of LMO. The reason been that the company went through recession and lost lot of revenues. However, since it's a recruitment company I was able to keep my job and started working for a client.

Can someone help and advise me accordingly.
