LMO of 2 years,passport expires in 07/2015, work permit?

Hello everyone!
First of all, sorry for my English, I'm a French-speaker.I got a positive answer for the LMO application, on the LMO paper it reads that the employement would be for 2 years but the issue is that my passport will expire in 07/2015.
So I'm afraid about the work permit and the visa. Would they deliver me the work permit? And for what duration? Would the expiration of my passport impact the duration of my work permit? Or they would give me the 2 years of work permit ,knowing I can renew my passport in Canada?

Try to extend your passport if they will let you, if not you have to reapply again for another wprk permit and with positive LMO in 2015.

My best advice is extend your passport if they will let you do it since it is still good for a year ...but if they dont let you extend your passport. Go ahead and extend your work permit as soon as you can, weigh your options.

you can extend if they will let you do it, I applied for my passport extension 6 months before it expired, but I think they will let u do it if its a year before....Goodluck on your application...

Yeah getting a passport with longer validity helps you avail the full work permit validity. Otherwise the visa you are issued as well as the work permit, will only go as long as the passport.

Then you will have to renew it in Canada, which might not be simple - say your embassy is not in your city and you have to travel to say Toronto or another place to get that.

Then your employer applies for LMO again and then you apply for work permit renewal. So this all could easily take up to a year and you should initiate it that soon in order to be on the safe side.

One more thing which you might not know before hand is, a lot of things that you get IN CANADA are tied to your work permit expiry.

Say you can only lease a car on a work permit, if the lease expiry is with in your work permit validity.

If it not valid beyond that (and there is no guarantee it will be renewed) then your lease won't be accepted. Or they would ask for a co signer who takes responsibility of fulfilling a lease in case you cannot for any reason or unless you get a PR processed to an advanced stage before your permit expires.

Same applies to mortgaging a house - among other things. So moral of the story, it is always better to get maximum validity on a work permit obtained in first attempt. Keep in mind that you go through the whole process - LMO and work permit application cost too - which might be significant if your permits are for a family.

ask lng po maam carla.. kasi ako nag wowory tlga s pasport ko.. kasi mag expired sya may,2015. then nag process ako ng docs nung november 29, 2013 and till now wla pang advice for medical.. dto ako taiwan ngaun and matagal ndn process nila dto. so yun nga.. wory ko is ung passport ko is may 2015, sakaling m aproved ako.. db dpat my 1yr validity p ung pasport ko bgu ako pd mag travel? or anu po ba? dpat gwin? kasi if mag renew ako ngaun.. panibgung NBI un at pnibgung ARC un.. pd pba tyu mag aply ng extension? slamat po

hi...go to Phils. embassy and request for another passport. Pa express mo para mabilis...I think mine takes 6 weeks from Toronto Phils.Embassy.
