I was born in the USA and have applied for my PR application. my husband is sponsoring me... i did not receive my PPR yet so i decided to apply for a work permit in the mean time so i can work while waiting. (my application is outland)

If u r a citizen of USA i saw this on the CIC site:

If you are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, Greenland or St. Pierre and Miquelon you can apply for a work permit at a port of entry, but you must produce the confirmation of your offer of employment (detailed job offer) and have any other documentation required by the officer to make his or her decision when you arrive at the port of entry.

-Does this mean u can get a work permit the same day when u go turn in your application??

all i need is a job offer and LMO file number correcT?

If you already have the positive LMO, you can go to the closest POE and apply for your WP there.

Yes, it does mean that you get the TWP on the spot, IF you have all the correct documentation.

Depending on the job, you may also want to see it it falls under one of the occupations that have an LMO exemption under NAFTA... If it is exempt, you would want a letter of confirmation of the exemption from HRSDC (your employer would get that, or the LMO).

You would need a copy of the positive LMO/exemption letter along with the letter of employment; if the job requires any licenses or certifications, you would need those; you need to have some evidence of being qualified for the position (I was advised to have copies of my university transcripts and my cv/resume). Remember, TWPs are mainly for "skilled" employment....

In your case, because you have a Canadian spouse and you have applied for PR, you may need to explain why this is a TEMPORARY position and that you understand you must leave Canada at the end of the authorized period of work ... and understand, there is still a chance the TWP would be denied...
