Hello,

I received a job offer today, however upon review of the LMO, the company stated that they needed to have the job posting for 6-8 weeks. From everything that I have read, it needs to be posted for 2 weeks. It is for a Shipper / Receiver position. Please help urgently as he is going to hire somebody else on Monday if I can not get this straightened out.

Thank-you!

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
The advertising stage might only be two weeks but it could take 6 to 8 weeks to get the LMO after that and only when you have that approved can you apply for your work permit.

I can only tell you through my own experience.

Service Canada required that the job was advertised locally (paid) for 2 weeks and Nationally on the job bank for 2 weeks.

They then required detailed reasons as to why the Company was unable to find a suitable Canadian for the job.

In your case, if the Company is going to hire someone else on Monday, then they have found a Canadian and will not receive a positive LMO for you.

Welcome to the world of Service Canada...it can suck big time.

Some companies have internal hiring policies that require longer job postings. It is not clear why you may lose the job by Monday. It is poor practice for employers to send out job offers with the intent of nit following through. Does the job not require an LMO or can you obtain your work permit at a Port of entry with your job offer and other required documents. You should contact your Canadian consulate office.
