LMIA: Residing in Ontario, Working in Quebec

Hello all,

It is stated on the CIC website that the applicant must 'plan to live outside the province of Quebec' to qualify for the CEC. I am currently residing in Ottawa (Ontairo) and work in Gatineau (Quebec), and I intend to remain in Ottawa.

I hold a Post-graduate work permit (PGWP) which is LMIA-exempt thus deeming me ineligible for the 600 points. Is it possible for my employer to get the LMIA approval at all? Even if the job is in Quebec?

Thank you.
Cheers!

To get an LMIA for Quebec, you'd have to go through the Quebec LMIA process. You could also apply for PR through the Quebec immigration program.

You are being hyperspecific on the "plan to live outside Quebec" part, that includes not working in Quebec. Your cross-border situation is going to make your PR aspirations very challenging - my advice would be to look for work in Ottawa.
