Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hi!
I am currently working in lumber industry on post graduation work permit. My employer wants to support my pr through lmia. Since i am working on a lmia exempt work permit, what kind of lmia should we apply for(dual intent or pr support) and what is the processing time for each case.
Thank you

It's really up to the employer as to which one to apply for. The difference is there is a cost attached to a dual intent whereas an LMIA specifically for PR application does not cost anything to apply for.

Processing time is dependent on how quickly your employer can advertise the post etc. It has to be advertised for 30 days I believe before the application for the LMIA can be submitted. The employer must also prove that there is no Canadian available & qualified to fill the position.

The whole process took my husbands employer 5 months but I have heard of it being processed quicker than that.

Hi scottygirl!
thanks for the reply. i am quite sure that i can apply for lmia specifically to support PR for i have an lmia exempt work permit. can somebody tell me how much time it takes to process the application by ESDC and how long it is valid for. i am planning to go through CEC but i dont have the required work experience yet.
thanks

Processing time once Service Canada have the full application is normally a couple of weeks. It's the advertising of the position and ensuring the application is fully complet d with all the correct supporting documentation that can take the time.

PR specific LMIA is valid for 6 months from date of issue - this means that you must have rec'd your ITA and submitted your PR applliction before the expiry date.
