Hi Everyone,

Please has anyone working with the government of Alberta on an OWP applied for LMIA for their job offer and received one? Please kindly let me know. Having a hard time getting one from my office. My Boss hasn't done one before. TIA

HR would need to do it. Not your boss. You need the talk to HR.

Thank you so much! so I guess he spoke to HR and they mentioned its prior to employment and cost $1000 and I'm like that's if one is applying for work permit alongside, which I already have (an OWP) so it should be at no cost. Please have you done yours before? were you successful? please what do I need to do to convince HR that I need one to boost my score on EE profile. TIA

You're going about this a bit backwards. The first step is to speak with HR directly to find out if they will even support an LMIA. There are many companies that will not go through the process. First step is to find out if it's even feasible.

HR has to prove no Canadian or PR can do the job so they will need to post your job and follow the process for applying for a LMIA.
