LMIA FILE NUMBER TIME

Hi, my lawyer is saying he applied for lmia last month and is still waiting for the file number. Does it really takes that long or just making fool out of me ?

Have you bothered to read through any threads in this section of the forum? I'm guessing not. If you had, you would have seen LMIAs can take anywhere from a few weeks to over four months to process.

As for whether your lawyer is making a fool of you or not - that's anyone's guess. There are lots of scams out there.

How come a lawyer submit an LMIA for you? I think should be the employer do that. My employer submit LMIA for me and there is no such file number thing. We received approval letter after 3 weeks ( at the time a I was the 1st foreign worker needed LMIA). Well, Im not sure how it works now, but I think none of lawyer can submit LMIA for you, it must be the employer and now it take few months.
