Dear all,
I have recently received an offer from a university in Montreal to do a postdoctoral position there (I'm originally from / currently reside in the Netherlands). This is a LMIA exempt position and my employer has already completed the Offer of Employment form. I am now in the process of applying for my work permit and I have several questions:

1. I want to apply for an open work permit for my boyfriend (we have been together for multiple years and can proof this with shared bank account , shared rental appartment so he qualifies as my common law partner) at the same time as I apply for my work permit. In our document checklist (after I filled in the questionnaire), he has to fill out a IMM5645 Family Information form, while this is not shown in my document list. Does that mean I don't have to fill this out?

2. My boyfriend might do work that requires Medical Examination, but as he doesn't have a job yet, we are not sure about this. Should he get a medical examination before we leave or can he do that once he found a job when he is in Canada?

3. In both our checklists, it says that the IMM5257 Schedule 1 form is optional but in the description it says that it is required. Why is that?

4. There is the option to upload a letter of explanation. What would you advice to upload in this situation? Proof of our common law relationship and my willingness to support him? My offer letter that includes the stipend I will receive? Bank statements to show we have sufficient funds to support ourselves?

5. In my boyfriend's checklist it says that we should submit a Purpose of Travel document. My job offer is for more than a year so we're not planning to buy a return tickets (or should we?) and he will quit his job. We will keep our apartment in our home country but I'm not sure how to proof this. Any advice on what to write in this Purpose of Travel document?

6. Do we have to complete his application with my application or is it also OK to do it separately? The reason is that I'm leaving quite soon and it might speed up the process if I apply first. My boyfriend will join me a few weeks/months later.

7. Does it complicate things if we don't enter Canada together at the same time?

I hope you could help me out with this! Thank you in advance!
