LMIA and attending university?

I’m in the process of being sponsored by an employer (I’m from the US), but I want to attend university in January, and will still be on my LMIA. Does anyone know if you can attend school while on a LMIA? Or if you can switch from the LMIA work permit to the student visa?

Any info on this will be helpful since I can’t seem to find any.
