Hello,

I mentioned on another thread that my wife (US citizen) is applying for permanent resident status and the only hold up is getting her FBI background check because her finger prints keep getting rejected as not being clear enough.

Rather than keep getting ink finger prints done, I was thinking of getting live scan prints done that can then be printed on the FBI finger print cards.

Can anyone recommend a place that provides this service - somewhere in Ontario or Michigan?

Thanks.

I'm not sure if it will be the same case there as it is here in New York, but I got my fingerprints done in the police department HQ (they provided the fingerprint card that the FBI uses). Try calling your local police department maybe? Here it costs us 25$ for the first fingerprint card and 1$ for additional cards.

I don't recommend a police station. They tend to have basic equipment. My wife has a hard time getting good prints because of dry hands and worn ridges. She went to her local police station and they could not get good prints. So she went to a private place and had much better results because they had better equipment. She got two sets done and sent in both.

Try these guys:

They have multiple locations across the US. My wife went to one of the NYC locations. Here are the ones of Michigan:

Hi Keesio,

I had already looked into identogo, but when I called their 1-800 number they said they only take appointments by referral - usually from an employer. They said they don't do finger prints for immigration.

How did you get them to do your wife's finger prints?

Ah ok. A lot of these locations are independent locations affiliated with identogo/morphotrust. My wife went to the NYC (Park Place location) (http://www.l1enrollment.com/locations/?st=ny) but we called the location directly as listed in http://www.newyorkfingerprinting.com/ and they took the appointment. So you may have to book directly with the place instead of calling identogo's 1-800 phone number.

I had mine taken at Brantford, Ontario Police Dept. It was done on a live scan and then printed on their own paper, not the FBI card. There was some trouble getting good prints on a few of my fingers, but the officer overrode the message when it wasn't a "good" print.
I was really worried that the FBI would reject it because of the prints & not being on the FBI card but it went through. It took almost 3 months to finally get the report in the mail. It was such a relief too.

I forgot to mention that for my PR application, I went here in Ontario (Toronto):

They did my prints for both RCMP and FBI.
