I'm a live in caregiver for only16 mons now. 2 mons ago i had my baby. my employer kept me even when they found out I was pregnant I worked til my due date and used my vacation for my delivery and recovery after 4 weeks I went back to work. they never missed paying for my taxes. my boyfriend took paternity leave so he can take care of the baby. my boyfriend and I are living together since January of 2012.i stay with him during the weekends. we found out we were pregnant on June 2012. and decided to get our own apartment in November in preparation for the coming baby in February 2013. when we were signing for our baby's registration we declared ourselves as common law partners. last week we received a mail from service canada that we owe money for not declaring our partnership beforehand.
questions:
how will having a baby affect my application for open work permit and permanent residence by the time ive completed my 24 mons contract.?
is it a bad move for us to declare ourselves as common law partners or is it too soon?
how will being common law partners affect our taxes and refunds?
i hope someone can help me clear things up regarding our situation and any additional information are welcome.. thank you in advance.
