Live-in Caregiver Questions regarding Training and/or Experience

Hi, My name is Dixie from Sydney, Australia. Can anyone help me with this query?

What course could I do (hopefully nanny specific) that would be accepted by the Government of Canada to be accepted in to the program? I have looked at study options in Canada, America, Asia, New Zealand and Australia. Within Australia, there are loads of courses, but the in-classroom hours is only something small for all of them, like 14-21 hours, not 30-35 hours minimum as required by CIC. Can anyone suggest a course anywhere that could suit? I can't study in the UK as I don't hold a Euro passport.

If I was going to use the one year experience as my way to get in, would a year's experience as a full-time live-out nanny position be accepted? Or a year's experience in a child-care centre?

Which country has the quickest processing time? Boston office? Sydney office?

Based on my experience, I didn't have any full time training in caregiver but I did have experience in working with children as a full time teacher for a year within 3 years before I applied for the work permit under the live in caregiver program. The consulate officer considered my teaching experience met the requirement regarding training/experience. I also included a copy of First Aid training certificate. After I had undergone the interview, my work permit application was approved.

Hi dna, and thank you for your reply. I am not a teacher (although I have teaching experience with children from 7 years ago which will not count).

I appreciate that reply though and look forward to anyone else's thoughts...
