Hi guys,

I am a live-in caregiver and going to apply for my PR mid-February 2014 so very soon!
I will apply under Option 2, which means 3,900 hours (within a minimum of 22 months, which may include a maximum of 390 hours of overtime) of authorized full-time employment.

Has anyone here done this before????
Any advice?

I started April 09/2012 and worked (still do) 40hrs a week and by Feb 17th I will have reached my 3900 hrs, after that I will discontinue my work with my employer. I was hoping to go for the 24 month option to be on the save and easy side but unfortunately things are not good with my employer.
I will have just over 3900 hrs without the need of overtime hours added to it. I called CIC and they told me it's fine.

Oh and while waiting for my OPW can I receive EI as I won't work?
It'd be great if someone could give some advice,
Cheers x

Post your questions to the Foreign Workers section of the forum. This is where almost all of the posts related to applying for PR through LCP can be found.

If you decide to leave your employer (i.e. if you quit your job) then you will not qualify for EI.

if you quit in your own no EI if you get laid off then you can apply for it at the service canada centre, you will need your record of employment and this should be done within two weeks of your last day of employment i guess(doube check with service canada).
you may face some hard time applying for EI since you are on a closed work permit but you will definitely get it just need to explain your situation very well and tell them that you are expecting an open work permit pretty soon and need EI money to survive until you get your open work permit since you can't start work right away because your current work permit is closed.
if you search on this forum you will be able to find some usefull forms about foreign workers on closed work permits who applied for EI and succefully got it.

good luck :)
