Hi everyone! Can someone help me answer my questions. I am under live in caregiver program, I am one month pregnant now, my partner and I are planning to get married on Jan 2017 but i am just worried because my work permit expires on May 2018.
My questions are:
1.) I read on cic website that once we got married my partner can sponsor me for PR and while waiting I can apply for open work permit. Do you guys think I will be able to get an open work permit before my work permit expires on May 2018?

2.) or should i talk to my employer and ask them if they can help me extend my work permit before it expires just to make sure I can stay here in Canada while waiting for my PR application.

TIA! I hope someone can answer my questions.

Your partner can sponsor you as soon as you get married. If your partner sponsors you inland and includes an open work permit with the application - the work permit should be approved four months after you submit the complete application package.

Thank you so much!
