Hey PMM and others,

My situation is like this, I am in a private institute here in Ontario with a UK based course, my program of studies necessitates to have practical work experience along with theoretical knowledge anywhere in the world to be certified as a qualified. I want to apply for a Co-op internship work permit. Am I eligible to apply for a Co-op.

For some academic programs, work experience is part of the curriculum. Foreign students who wish to participate in a co-op or internship program must apply for a work permit as well as a study permit.

Who can apply

To be eligible for a work permit, you must meet the following conditions:

You must have a valid study permit.
Your intended employment must be an essential part of your program of study in Canada.
Your employment must be part of your academic program, certified by a letter from a responsible academic official of the institution.
Your co-op or internship employment cannot form more than 50 percent of the total program of study.

Yes. Co-op is like a Full time job. So One has to get Work Permit to start Co-op.

HI to all . i just want to know that if i get admission EXCEPT of that mentioned college .will i face any problem in the future regarding get work permit . extend of my study visa , to get PR.
becouse i am here in brampton canada on study visa and thinking to get admission in EVEREST COLLEGE in brampton which is not in above mentioned list.
will i not get work permit after my study from this college????
please reply me . THANKS

Hi,

You will NOT get any PGWP for any diploma/PG diploma/PG Certificate course from a private college. You may get PGWP only for some recognized specific degree courses from such private schools.
