LIST OF COLLEGES ???

hey guys !
i went to a meeting with an immigration agent, and she said that i have to get into "publicly funded institution"
so i will appriciate if u explain me what it is ? and how can i know whether the college i apply is under that cretaria ?
so i keep looking for this list and i cant find it anywhere... if its possible for some1 to help me, where can i find/look for a list of those "publicly funded institutions" ???
