Dear Members, I would like to inquire about the following situation:

I applied for PR renewal based on time spent outside with Canadian citizen spouse in mid Sept 2016. I have submitted all the documents including travel records, lease agreement, photographs, bills and tax documents. They started processing the application on 28 Sept.

I have received a letter from Immigration office to visit in person to the specified location on 1 Dec 2016 and bring all the original documents with me. Thy have also given an option that if i am unable to make it on the appointment, i have 180 days to visit. The letter also says that unclaimed PR cards are destroyed 180 days of the date of the letter.

Currently i am travelling and will be back before Christmas and my PR card is valid for 5 more months. What is your view on the above scenario.

a) Do they ask a lot of questions and review all the documents. (PS all the documents are valid)
b) Is it a problem not making on the date of appointment and reaching after 3-4 weeks.

Would really appreciate your support and if some one can share similar experience.
Thank you

You mentioned that they have given you the option to visit at a later date if you are not available.
If your PR cards are valid for next 5 months, I dont think it will be any problem if you visit later than the specified date. I would however, call them and take an appointment for the later date to avoid any incontinence.

As for questions asked in that meeting, I cant say much as I got my PR card via mail.
All the best.

There is no problem at all in missing the appointment date. As indicated in the letter you received, you can visit the visa office anytime during the 180 days period, , and you don't need to make another appointment.

Don't worry about the questions. The agent will just check your documents and give you your new PR card.
