Hi guys, i just want opinins on this letter of motivation that i wrote for my extension of study permit. Please advice me on what to change. Thank you
Dear Sir or Madam
My name is Michelle Mukolo, I am originally from the Democratic of Congo, but moved to south Africa at the age of 10 with my family for better education. My dream was to become a Doctor, due to lack credibility and trust from the South African Schools my dad suggested that I apply to further my studies in Canada. I applied for a study permit I believe in December 2015 and by May 2015, I received a two year visa to study at the University of Saskatchewan. I left for Canada to stay with my auntie who is a Canadian citizen and she would help me settle in the country. My auntie was living in Alberta, so I enrolled in fulltime upgrading classes that allowed me to be able to apply for Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Macewan University. I tried multiple times to change my designated institution and contacted the CIC agents and Technology support. They suggested that since my visa was expiring soon, I should then change when I apply for an extension of study Permit. I studied really hard and was finally admitted into the program for winter session which was starting in January. I began my first year, but I needed to act fast because both my visa and passport was expiring and I knew that I had to renew at least a month in advance. I applied for the visa at the Embassy of Congo on March 3rd. A month went by, I didn’t get any response from them so I decided to call them and check up on the application, but one of the agent told me that they had not received my file. She said that there is a possibility that my life was lost. She suggested that I apply for the passport at the Embassy of Congo in Ottawa. It was already April and I had little time left because I did not want to lose the ability to stop studying and I knew that the passport was not going to be out by April 19th. So I contacted the CIC agent and he suggested that I send in a paper application on April 15th, four days before my Visa expire so that it would buy me enough time while waiting for my new passport to be issued. I did exactly that, I paid the fees and on April 15th, I applied for an extension of study permit via mail. On May 19th, I received my package back with all the documents and a letter explaining that I had sent my application to the wrong office. The letter entailed the right office which I had to resend my application to. In panic, on the same day I sent back the application to the right office in Vegreville. That was how I lost my status. About a week later I decided to call the CIC agent again and ask if my application was received, but I received bad news and was told because I had sent my application to the wrong office and it had expired, I have to pay the restoration fees and they would put a note so that whenever the agent dealing with my application, they would see the note but also noted that my application may be rejected because a copy of my new passport isn’t out yet. I became very scared because all I ever wanted was to just obtain the knowledge and be able to help my country. On June 5th 2017, I received a call that my passport was ready. So I decided to call back the CIC immigration line and inquire on whether I could be able to re-apply online with all the complete documents attached including a copy of my application. The agent responded and said yes I could but they would have to cancel my paper application and I agreed because I did not want to risk getting a rejection because now I was under restoration period and had only 90 days to reapply. I really hope that this letter explains my situation and how helpless I was because I had not control over my passport renewal and it put me in a huge situation. I hope that the officer handling my case would be able to see that my aim is to really be able to maximize and obtain better education here in Canada to be able to use it to help people in my country. If I can be able to make a difference three or four years later in my country with the knowledge I have gained here. Then I know my purpose for coming in Canada was not in vain. Please do review my application and I thank you for your understanding.
You’re faithfully,
Sincerely,
Michelle Mukolo
