Hi

About three years ago when I was 23, I was convicted of "possession" for having marijuana. Since then I have cleaned up and turned things around. For the last year I have been living in Thailand, while here I have met a girl and when living with her for 7 months. I am currently in the process of applying to get her a visitors visa as I would like her to meet my family and see Canada. The issue is im worried about having my name of the application and on the Letter of Invitation as it could decrease her chances of approval, recommendations ?

Thanks

hey everyone,

just to expand on my issue

On her application, under who will you visit on your trip, I put my mothers name and left my name off. It is my mother who is inviting her and sponsoring her to visit Canada.

I was wondering if I should or should not put my name on the Letter of Invitation, as I dont want to hurt her chances of getting approved for a visa.

Im not sure if its better for my mom, who is writing the letter of invitation, to say:

"XXXX is a family friend and I would like her to visit"

or to say that:

XXXX is the girlfriend of my son, XYXY, and I would like her to visit

All advice is appreciated,

Thank you!

Your charges won't be a problem. The main challenge the application will face will be proving that your girlfriend has very strong ties to her home country and has no plans on remaining in Canada long term.
