Letter of Explanation/Cover letter for ITA

Hi,

I have a couple of points I will need to clarify for ITA (hopefully when I get it - 444 points).

Has anyone else included a letter of explanation/cover letter? Do we have anyone here with the experience of receiving letters...should they be simple, detailed... I don't want to annoy an officer but I sure as hell don't want to leave anything out.
