Letter from landlord instead of lease

Hi guys so I lost our lease. An my landlord has said he won't do us a copy unless we pay $100 now he has sent us a letter on a headed piece of paper saying

To whom it may concern

Our names have lived at this address since may 1st 2014.



Will that be ok?? Or will I have I pay the $100 for a copy of the lease. We are applying outland.

Weigh paying $100 for a new lease against the risk of you applying, paying $1040 in fees, and then either being rejected or facing numerous delays because you didn't want to pay $100 for a new lease.

You can always sign a new lease if you previous lease term is over and you are dealing month to month.

If you already have quite a bit of evidence showing you are common-law, then the lease isn't really necessary. Many people have submitted a landlord letter in place of a lease without issue.
